Romania is packed to the brim with thermal springs and Romanians have been taking advantage of them for their health promoting properties for centuries. These photos were taken at Baile Herculane (Hercule’s Baths), a spa town who’s popularity peaked during the Roman rule of the area when the city and its Spa were known throughout the Roman empire. During the 18th and 19th century┬áthe healing waters also attracted nobility and the aristocratic society from all corners of Europe. The area’s numerous hot springs pour out into the Cerna River which winds through a beautiful valley in the Domogled mountains.
